FOF #297 - Backstage with Baby Teeth - 04.26.06

Come take a little trip with me and my good pal the Rev. DJ (who is neither an ordained minister nor a professional disk jockey) as we leave the house for some fun and music at the local gay watering ho' (that's gay bar in English), the Jackhammer, for the Flesh Hungry Dog Show, an evening of fabulous rock and roll bands.
Listen to us talk to Pearly Sweets, the lead singer for Baby Teeth about his music, his new albums, and why music can sometimes be a matter of life and death. Listen to us talk to Baby Teeth drummer Peter Andreatis' roommate Miriam about fisting and hear one of the strippers changing backstage at Jackhammer.
Featured Music:
Jen Porter - How it Feels: CD Baby
Baby Teeth - The Baby Teeth Album: iTunes | Amazon
Check out these lovely pics taken at the event.

Today's show was great. Loved the band and wish them all the luck in the world. I can't get enough of Darius; I love the way he chimes in every now and then. The opening song was hilarious. ps I think we are a nostalgic generation (even me in my mid 20s), we just want the best of everything - which is why podcasting is taking off. We want choice on tap 24/7 x

I know that stripper and he's just doing that till he gets done with grad school.

Yeah, we're all crazy for the Reverend DJ over here. He's cute, funny, and an excellent musician.
Curt, are you serioius or just joking? The stripper was really cute. Althought every time I see the word "stripper" in print, I am thinking of paint remover for some reason.

Looks like someone forgot to take their zoloft today. [Note, all the comments came from the same IP address, so I renamed them "Angry Listener"] They were "trolling" our site, so I banned the IP.
What these all these comments have to do with Baby Teeth is beyond me. But hey, thanks for the traffic, whomever you are!

Hey, I used to work at Express and just a tip with the shirts: wash them in warm water, and DONT put them in the dryer, hang dry them... That should help your little problem!
Cheers!
Said by: Casey at April 26, 2006 05:22 PM
A little too late Casey :(
I love those shirts, but mine are totally RUINED cause I put them in the dryer. Spandex do not like drying machine! make hulk angry.
On a lighter note, DJ is wonderful, isn't he? RDJ, you need to put out an album of you singing. Praise jesuss...

Love the show guys. Baby Teeth is awesome and thanks to FOF I now own The Baby Teeth Album and next pay day will get the newest one as well.
Thanks to Fausto and "DJ" for a great show and awesome interviews. The Baby Teeth gang seem like nice down to earth people.
And "Angry Listener" needs to remove whatever it is up his ass...or maybe the problem is he hasn't gotten any lately...

Great Show guys. I heard an interview with Pearly Sweets (spelling?) yesterday on the Chicago NPR affiliate ... nicely done but they didn't ask the questions I wanted to know about.. luckily Fausto covered those and a few beyond.
Can't wait to see the new T-shirts. I was home in Ohio lastweek so I missed a few shows but caught up today. I loved hearing KiKi talk about roller derby. A good friend (and my son's godmother) in on the Sprockets Team in the Ohio Roller Girls League. We went to see her on Sunday and it was a blast. All the girls I know on the teams are straight but the lesbians were everywhere.
Take Care!

Great show guys! I really think DJ is really handsome and sexy and want to see more shows with him on them.
You guys make me laugh and laugh and make my day sunny even when it's cloudy.

Another great show! I also can'r wait for the new shirts ^_^ All the members of Baby Teeth surpassed my expectations: the progressive web-browser set theme won me over ;) I sense myself buying the album on iTunes very soon. Keep up the good work, Fausto! (and everyone else too!). ps. Have you tried taking Airborne yet? Sometimes it cuts down the sick time, works great with lotsa zinc and vitamin c.

Great show, guys! You are showing just how powerful a podcast can be, having created a gay following for a band full of straight guys! The really cool thing is how grateful they were. Then again, I've rarely seen an indie artist who wasn't grateful for ANY amount of free publicity.
Keep up the good work, and I'm sending lots of great energy Fausto's way, seeing him over this health challenge.

By the way, did anybody else think the stripper looked a little like Marc at first glance?
Said by: David at April 27, 2006 12:56 AM
You know David, I never thought of it, but YEAH! He DID look a lot like Marc (if Marc was a stripper.)
Thanks for your kind words. We work really hard at our show and work hard to reach out to tons of musicians, artists, writers, comedians, and all sorts of fabulous folks who make the world beautiful.
Stay tuned tomorrow for our exclusive interview with The Wet Spots!

DJ is the cutest. I think that vintage clothing and older music first got attention within our generation because we were sick of all of the prepackaged everything we had been given. But now that the rest of America is following suit the prepackagers are also. So what exactly is going to happen now? Who knows.
And YAY Baby Teeth!!!

Ah ha! Now I must out geek you.
Linus Torvalds (pronounced Lee- noose) didn't invent open source. He oversaw the development of the first linux kernel.
Richard Stallman can be credited with authoring the first General Public Licence (GPL) which is most commonly associated with open-source code. Netscape took up the GPL and made the LGPL (lesser GPL) for companies that didn't like the "viral" property of GPL: at the time, the GPL said that if you used GPL code in your code, you had to GPL the code you were writing as well. Otherwise, code that is called "Open Source" is licenced using the GPL or the LGPL.
In Linus' defense... Getting a Gaggle of Geeks to keep contributing to a project as big as making a stable and useable *nix kernel, for free, is a monumentous task. Thus, he is very associable to the entire open-source movement.
Otherwise, the "Angry Listener" trick is wonderful! Don't you be sufferin' through no BS, sweeties.

Okay, you know you couldn't bring up the subject of fisting without me chiming in. So here's my little story...
I was volunteering at one of the local gay pride events, checking ID's at the entrance to the Leather Expo tent (it was 21 and over). These two women walked up, saw the sign about the ID check and went right into their purses looking for IDs. They didn't really have a clue where they were going, they just saw a line and got into it. So after I checked their IDs they were walking past me and asked "what's going on in here?", I replied very matter-of-factly, "Vaginal Fisting". They both stopped and the color just drained out of their faces. They couldn't turn around as the exit was on the other side of the tent, so they went in and took a seat.
They were very happy to find out that the "demonstration" was being done by a licensed sexologist who was using a puppet for the visuals. They stayed through the entire presentation and really enjoyed it.
Now, don't ask me where you can get one of those puppets. I think it was custom made, LOL.
Yours truely,
pup don

Keep the great work up. :)

"Angry listener" needs to be a bit more creative with the slander. He just comes off as a disgruntled child, with the name calling and such. Also, he could at least have the common courtesy of spelling Marc's name right. I mean, if you're going to be a bastard, at least do it right!

Owen Wilson. Each time Pearly said something, I heard Owen Wilson. Maybe I'm on something... hmmm... great episode though. Huzzah!
