FOF #299 - Amanda's Big Adventure - 04.28.06

The last three weeks have been a whirlwind for our big, beautiful and purple pal Amanda Sylvia Steinstein. First she went to visit her family in Massachusetts, then off to New York City for our Meet N' Greet, and then she and her mom spent an entire week traveling the Caribbean in a glamorous cruise liner. Sucks to be you Amanda!
On today's show A.S.S. reminisces on walking around Puerto Rico and visiting El Yunque Tropical Rainforest (the only tropical rainforest in the US Forest Preserve.) We also talk about our Meet N' Greet in New York City and all sorts of different types of Beauty Pageants, including the Miss Klingon Empire Beauty Pageant. Do you guys think Amanda would win?
Pictured on the right is Miss Klingon Empire 2004 "Captain KheTara sutai Lorenssith," (Christine Evans-Arriaga.) We think she looks a lot like the winner of Miss Continental 2004.

COMING ON MONDAY: Feast of Fools celebrates our 300th show with an exclusive interview with writer, comedian and filmmaker Margaret Cho! The outspoken comic makes her podcasting debut with an in-depth discussion about American politics, her writing process, what she really is like when she's not onstage, and what her vagina would say if it could write it's own monolouge.

Marc & Fausto -- you guys are awesome! Thanks for talking to the Wet Spots. I enjoyed the show -- Cass & John are indeed very sweet and talented.

Four "Quarter Turns!" make a full revolution. A Feast of Fools Revolution that is. Viva la Revolucion!

thanks for the tickets, guys! looking forward to seeing this raunchy duo live and in person (I'm talking about John and Cass -- not Fausto and Marc!).
Fausto -- see you at the show!

The link that Pablo posted is for an article about everyone's favorite lesbian mommy, Rosie O'Donnel replacing Merideth Viera on The View. I don't think the girls from The View could handle Rosie. I think she would steam roll right over them all. And I bet Rosie would have very little, if any, tolerance for Star Jones. And since Star isn't at her former fighting weight I think Rosie could easily take her.

Actually, having Rosie on The View will make that show exciting to watch again. Set your Tivo's people! Rosie is back! Watch out Star Jones, better pack some heat.

Gosh I've missed Amanda!!! Glad to hear she'd consider adopting! Still counts as the best thing I ever did. My son and I are planning to hit the MAC store meet in great since that store is pretty kid friendly. Will be nice to see you in person.

I don't know why the View would hire Rosie, since she's basically a cross between Star Jones and Joy Behar. God, she's gross.

I miss Vmarr!

I was on the subway and for some reason when Fausto said "Huevos" I bursrted out laughing. A cop questioned me because people thought I was on crystal meth.... well not really but people did stare at me weird. :P
Anyway, great show as always and regarding the tidbit about the stop signs, in Mexico they also say "ALTO" instead of "PARE".
PS; I'll be Tivo'ing the View and waiting for Star to be crushed.

Rosie wouldn't take no shit from the other girls, hey....the view is trying to get their own version of Miss Ronnie (other then being a Big Beautiful Mexican woman part). I would actually watch that show for once if Rosie was on to but Star back in line and remind her she used to be just a lawyer. lol. there my venting period . oh well. love ya'll lots!
Later.

I am going to work my ass off so that I can drive 6 hours to Chicago to see you guys. You're like family i've never met.

I think Rosie will have to turn it down a notch or two to make it on the View, otherwise, you're right, she'd steamroll the other women. I used to think she was a pretty funny comedian. Then I thought she was a mildly effective talk show host. Then I thought she was a ballsy dyke who challenged TVs norms...safely. Now I think she's going to be a mildly effective warm fuzzy version of a lesbian on the View.
Honestly, I think she does as much for the gay community as "Queer Eye." Take that as you will.
Jealous? Of course. I wouldn't last six seconds on the View. I give her props for getting the gig.

I was a teensy bit confused (maybe my blonde roots are showing, I dunno) but I coulda sworn you said "April 29" and not "May 29" when you were announcing the Apple Store event... I was like... SHIT I GOTTA RUN... but then you said something about Memorial Day and I realized that I probably needed to clean out my ears or something. In any case, I will do my bestest to be there. :)
And Amanda darlin'... Love you. You know how much. :)

yeah i guess i'm too young to rememeber rosie being a comedian and I do not see her being a badass, because i don't think the network would allow it, that or barbra. I am so trying my damdest to take a trip to Chi-town so i can go to the apple store gig and be the dork I am.
later.

Hey why is the comments fields yellow and red? Anyhew, great show guys, love Amanda. See ya in a few days!
Said by: Anthony at April 30, 2006 08:12 PM
Amanda: I find it sort of interesting that you remark podcasting doesn't pull together people when you're here answering comments about the latest show with people that you probably would never have met in real life :D .
I think the internet has really turned all sorts of interpersonal interaction on it's ear. What used to be a world commanded by phones and television when I was a wee-un seems to have morphed into the hubbub-idy world of texts, away messages (sometimes through phones!), and everyone ironically becoming a bit to busy to talk to each other.
Said by: Psyton at May 1, 2006 07:29 AM
I agree Psyton, the internet has brought people across the nation, and the world, closer together but at the same time has distanced people from each other when it comes to those you see every day.
Said by: Ben at May 1, 2006 10:30 AM
Okay, you got me...podcasting does pull people together in that we're all here chatting on this board.
But radio shows have chat boards too. What I meant was the realtime, real live personal connection between people who would make an appointment to be in the same room at the same time to hear a certain thing on the radio.
My college roommate and I spent every Sunday night at our radio, often with at least one other friend, tuned in to Dr. Demento, which was only on two hours per week. I know people who did the same thing when they were in college 20 years ago, when there were no chat rooms or email to hook them up otherwise.
Ben makes a good point...where I used to talk with friends on the phone, I now chat with them online, which is one more degree removed. However, I can chat with friends online at times when I would never call them because while a phone call demands attention and makes noise, a little blip on the computer isn't so disruptive and can be ignored without any hard feelings.
And yes, Rocketman, I was on crack when I said April 29. God I hope no one hopped a jet based on my bad information...
The Apple Store meet 'n greet is May 27...I think. Don't quote me. Ask Fausto, the font of all knowledge.
I intend to have a fabulous presentation on internet dating tips, based on personal experience. Feel my pain!
Kisses,
-AS
