FOFA #213 - That's Why the Lady is a Tramp - 07.07.06

Even though we poke a lot of fun at Lady Bunny, we hold her in high regard as gay entertainment legend. Listen to this in-depth interview with the Bunny herself where she explains how she comes up with her material, why she dresses the way she does and why her mamma is so gosh darn proud of her son/daughter.

Subversive and perversive,THE Lady Bunny joins us today to talk about her debut DVD "X-Rated: For X-tra Retarded" a video collection of her greatest hits from her nightclub comedy act.
Originally born in Chattanooga Tennessee, Lady Buny first moved to Atlanta Georgia to go to Georgia State University and then in the 1980's moved to New York City to become part of a vibrant community of drag performers.
Lady Bunny's probably best known for organizing and founding the New York City Outdoor Drag Festival Wigstock, which in 1995 became the subject of a documentary "Wigstock The Movie" directed by Barry Shills.
In addition to emceeing the annual Wigstock event for over 20 years she's a well known DJ, promoter, and comedian.
Her blog on her web site, ladybunny.net, is a sharp, politically aware and at times loopy take on current affairs and cultural issues and recently featured a photo of herself next to Jeff Stryker's penis, which claims to be one of the largest penises in the world. And from the looks of it, I dont doubt it!
Llisten to Lady Bunny talk about Pamela Anderson and the Comedy Central Roast, the politics of drag and her former roommate RuPaul, and her mother Lady Becky, who threatens to run onto the stage and steal the show with her tambourine. Wouldn't that be a sight!
Visit Lady Bunny's website and buy "X-Rated: For X-tra Retarded"
Also a lovely holiday present, the Feast of Fools 2006 Calendar.

Faust, Marc, and everyone else,
I came across this exhibition which is currently in Atlanta, Georgia and it freaks the hell out of me. Here's the website. http://www.bodiestheexhibition.com/
These are real human bodies that have undergone some type of embalming, only the muscles and skeletal system are used. The bodies are then posed and articulated. It's crazy.

This exhibit was here in Chicago last year at the Museum of Science and Industry under the name Body Worlds. I LOVED IT! They even added a horse carcass that was ridden by a human cadaver. Bring it back to Chicago!

Um, it's actually in Saint Paul, Mn - or atleast Body Worlds is, at the Science Museum.
Thank god you picked great archived shows... I'm stuck in the hell of jury duty this week which has me trapped in the court house basement all day everyday with nothing to do but listen to my ipod!

BODIES is actually all over the world right now, not just Atlanta, I think it said that it's in London as well. The first thing that came to mind when you said horse carcass was that scene from "The Cell" where J. Lo is in the room with the horse and then the glass shoots up and moves apart making the cross-section of the horse, crazy stuff.
Awesome show again!

I saw that body worlds exibit, it was delicious!
I loved the dead fat man slices, I thought it would make a great macabre dining table.
I also thought it was interesting that the dancers bodies all had dark, dark lungs from years of smoking, while the atheletes' lungs were a lovely shade of pink.
And last but not least, the embryos would make a lovely pendant. They should have sold those at the gift shop.

Hahaha, that would be awesome. I'd definitely buy the table and pendant.

So...I was over at the Twit.TV site...and saw that someone else is claiming their podcast makes it's own gravy.

What's that about?

Anybody want to sue him? Just because you've put a trademark on something doesnt mean you own it. We've been saying this phrase for the last six months, we even SELL t-shirts that have the saying!
I guess imitation is the sincerest form of theft!

Here is my response. Please write to them if you want to. Give them hell!

Hey twits, if youre going to borrow promotional phrases from us, be sure to give us credit. "The podcast that makes its own gravy: the Feast of Fools" was coined six months ago on our show, and is even in our show notes:

We even sell t-shirts with the slogan. It's $20. Would you like to buy one?

We used that catch phrase from the Gravy Train dog food commericals from the 1960's.

"Attribution. You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor." Get it? Take the TM mark off of your unoriginal catch phrase.
Play nice.

"Give them hell?" I can't believe the whining about someone else stealing a catch-phrase that they stole from a trademark holding company. While you're at it, be sure to cry to the 949 other Google results of sites using the same phrase. Play nice in the sandbox kids.
Feast of Fools... hmmm... sounds like a fitting name.
