FOFA #744 – Art Abuse

FOFA #744 – Art Abuse

 Standard Podcast:

Enrique Iglesias wants everyone to know he's got a HUGE cockPoor Enrique Iglesias! The dreamy son of latin crooner Julio Iglesias is so fed up from people thinking he has a small penis that he’s issued a press release stating he has a large dick.

I believe you Enrique, but we still need visual confirmation.

About six years ago, Enrique joked in an interivew that he couldn’t find condoms small enough to fit his manhood. Now, he’s sick of being called Little Dicked Enrique, so he told Showbiz Spy says, “I said I had a small penis as a joke. And they took it literally when it is not the truth. So when people find out it’s not the case they are pleasantly surprised.”

Notice he said “PEOPLE” and not “WOMEN.” I wonder why is he playing the gender game with that neutral word “people.” If he’s into chicks, why not just say “So when girls find out” and not use the word people? What’s up with that Ricky? Are you easing out of the closet door? Because if you are, I can help you sacar la presion!

Aliza Shvarts creates an uproar by claiming she impregnated herself and miscarried over and over again for a yearHere’s a concept we talk about on the show- Art Abuse. People who create art based on their personal issues and force others to struggle with them.

The artist thinks they created the art to enlighten audiences, but in reality they punish their audience because they think the public isn’t as informed as they are. In the end nobody wins. It’s just another turn in the cycle of abuse.

Yale university student Aliza Shvartz claims to have inseminated herself and forced herself to miscarriage “as many times as possible” over a period of nine months. She intends to smear the bloody results on hundreds of feet of plastic sheeting and wrap it around a large cube suspended from the ceiling in order to “draw attention to the ambiguity surrounding form and function of a woman’s body.” Yale says that the induced pregnancies and miscarriages are just a hoax and that they are part of the whole performance piece. Aliza insists that “No one can say with 100-percent certainty that anything in the piece did or did not happen.”

Amy Burrow's art installation in MissouriOn a more inspiring note, Amy Burrow, a senior high school student in Independence, Missouri has caused quite a commotion with her installation art – a glass case filled with anti-gay posters designed to look like the ones used by protesters from Fred Phelps’ Westboro Baptist Church on top of it the words “LOVE CONQUERS ALL.”

Despite the shock to students, the school is standing by Amy, who’s work has gotten some negative responses from students.

Controversy is not a stranger to this real-life Lisa Simpson, who in the past has created and displayed artwork at her school about abortion and smoking. Remember the story of “Fag-Bug” owner Erin Davies? I’m always amazed by the way people react negatively when they see their own hate speech displayed back at them.

Richard Quest gets busted for drugs, being gaySome people rather bee seen as drug addicts than be gay. CNN personality Richard Quest was busted in Central Park with some drugs in his pocket, a rope around his neck that was tied to his genitals and a sex toy in his boot. This guy knows how to party! When he was caught he quickly told the police about the drugs hoping they wouldn’t catch on that he was hustling for gay sex.

A poor German farmer married a woman he met on the internet only to discover on their wedding night that she had a penis. Hot. We aren’t sure what she was thinking but she must not be listening to the Feast of Fools, because if she was, she would know that you should always disclose what you got down below before you take your wedding vows. To do otherwise only leads to confusion and hard feelings. Be open and honest and find people who want you for who you are.

Stephen Hawking wearing his exoskeletonDo you believe in life on other planets? Steven Hawkings thinks there is. As reported by the Huffington Post, he believes life on other planets is very common but that intelligent life is probably very rare.

He thinks we need to get off this planet if our society is to endure. He thinks great things will come if we are willing to explore the universe. And of course, he got a little sample of what space travel is like in zero gravity last year.

The podcast that comes with a spicy surprise in every bite- Feast of Fools.

FOFA #862 – Welcome to Deven Green

FOFA #862 – Welcome to Deven Green

 Standard Podcast:

Comedian and YouTube sensation Deven Green on the Feast of Fools podcastOn today’s show we’ve got the very funny Deven Green, YouTube Comedy sensation, known for her videos as “Brenda Dickson – Welcome to my Home” and Betty Bowers, America’s Best Christian.

Hailing from the great white north, Deven Green was a runway model, a competitive ice skater and the first female voice for the Canadian movie phone.

Deven Green and her hot hubby Joel BryantHer husband, Joel Bryant, sent Deven the camp sensation, Brenda Dickson’s condescending 1980s “Welcome to My Home” video which has become a Youtube sensation. Devin recognized the parody gold waiting to be mined in the video and her lampoon soon became very popular on Youtube. (more…)

FOFA #772 – Mask On!

FOFA #772 – Mask On!

 Standard Podcast:

Tracy Tyler tries maskingI simply can’t stop looking at Maskon.com, one of my all-time favorite websites.

Mask-on is a support site dedicated to trannies who like to “mask.” “Maskers” enjoy cross-dressing as women by using masks instead of make-up to create the illusion.

They don’t really try to fool anyone into thinking they are actual flesh and bones women, but rather they create a look that resembles a living mannequin.

One of my favorites from the photo gallery is Carolyn, who has been cross dressing since the Kennedy Administration and enjoys walks in the park in full masked-up drag. Imagine running into her strolling though the woods!

Carolyn, one of our favorite "maskers" Carolyn up close Carolyn is a nature loving gal

Many maskers simply repaint a rubber Halloween mask which gives them a very creepy Michael Myers look from the movie Halloween. It’s haunting, scary and very very beautiful.

On today’s show Tracy Tyler gets inspired by the maskers and does her own style from a crude Whole Foods paper shopping bag. I think the look is ravishing, don’t you?

My Beautiful MommyListen as we talk about Tracy’s favorite YouTube cosmetologist, Clay Aiken’s maybe soon-to-be fatherhood status, molestation syndrome and “My Beautiful Mommy”- the unsettling book that tries to explain plastic surgery to children.

I still think the title should have been “Mommy Looks a Little Different Now In Order to Please Daddy and Save Our Marriage.”

Whether you’re in drag or wearing a paper bag, we’re here for you- Feast of Fools.

 Standard Podcast:

We had so much fun! Jonas Åstrøm, Fausto Fernós, Ricky Martel, Ben Lerman and Mary La PierreCheerleaders, a studly viking and a ukele playing guy from New York join us on today’s overstuffed burrito of podcasting fun.

Sometimes when you overbook your guests, you get a whole new exciting taste combination of fun and pleasure. On today’s show we have a superfan Jonas Åstrøm, musical guest Ben Lerman who’s star is quickly rising on the internet with his spontaneous duet with Britney Houston.
photo.jpg
Fausto has been freaking out the people at Dunkin’ Donuts & Baskin Robin’s when he asks for a French cruller in a cup with soft serve ice cream on top.

You should order one and gage their reaction. The staff seem mystified as the two worlds collide in a donut-ice cream dessert explosion. I’m not sure how long it will take for the concoction to catch on with the corporate types that run the franchise but when it does, you know you heard it here first.

Mary and Ricky for the Spirit Brigade regale us with ten reasons why cheerleaders aren’t tramps, or are tramps. Who knows which? But it was fun anyway. We also discover that Ricky sounds exactly like Ron Popeil of Ronco fame. We just can’t stop asking him to say “set it and forget it” or “beef jerky, turkey jerky, homemade yogurt, banana chips and apple snacks, dried pineapple, and much more” or “But Wait…There’s More!” Ah, the hilarity never ends.

Did you know that people are suffering from empathy deficit disorder? Yes, some people aren’t feeling sorry enough for other people. Can you believe it? Ben Lerman said it best though in regards to these poor people with the disorder when he said, “I don’t feel anything for them!”

The international language of love is laughter- Feast of Fools.

FOFA #662 – Ting A Ling

 Standard Podcast:

Fausto gives Marc a kiss!Ask not for whom the bells jingle, they jingle for thee.

What is up with Christmas themed music and that annoying, repetitive jingle you hear in almost every song out there? You know what I’m talking about, that jing-a-ling that makes even my ting-a-ling mind go batty with holiday-themed anxiety.

On today’s show Marc and I talk about the historical significance of bells during the holiday season and why they seem to be everywhere during the winter months. What is it with those sleigh bells ring a ding ding-a-ling-ding? How did they come to be synonymous with the holidays?

Any song can be turned into a Christmas song just by adding some jingling bells into the beat! Grab a tambourine and try it on ANY song as long as it’s in 4/4 or 2/2. (Waltzes and polkas don’t work.)

One Christmas themed music CD that definitively rocks is Darlene Love’s “It’s Christmas, Of Course.” You might remember her as the sassy diva singing “Christmastime for the Jews” on Saturday Night Live or playing the role of Motor-mouth Maybellene in Hairspray the Musical.

Kitty Wigs sells wigs made specifically for your cat (or small dog)We’re just smitten with these cute, adorable kitty cat wigs! Kittywigs.com sells wigs specially made for your cat (or small dog) to wear. Now you can now start dressing your tabby up as Cher, Tina or Madonna have have your very own purrfect cat drag shows, as it should be.

Be sure to check out their own flickr photo group of other pet owners dressing up their pets in fabulous wigs.

Lost your glove? A performance artist living in Pittsburgh has started her own website to help match lost gloves with their owners, in a good will effort to save people some bucks and keep their hands warm this winter season.

Listen as we talk about Sesame Street releasing their classic shows on DVD but choosing to label them and promote them “for adults only,” Jeff Scheidemantel the crystal meth-making High School Chemistry teacher and our past guest, Russian gay rights activist Nikolai Alexeyev getting arrested for voting, we presume.

FOFA #829 – Stoking the Fire

FOFA #829 – Stoking the Fire

 Standard Podcast:

Activist Rick Stokes on the Feast of Fools podcastRick Stokes did what almost every gay man in Kansas did back in the 1950s- he got married to a woman. His wife knew that he had a number of gay experiences before they got married but whether it was naivety or wishful thinking, they thought his desire for a gay life would go away.

When his desires wouldn’t abate, his family, his wife and his in-laws convinced him to undergo electro shock therapy to cure him. After many treatments and with no guarantee of success, Rick opted out of this unusual treatment and ended his marriage. But he says later it was the kick in the pants he needed to help him to chase his own rainbow colored dreams.

Rick Stokes gets a thank you kiss from Fausto Fernós (Marc Felion left, Alex in the back)He moved to Sacramento, CA to find the man who he would eventually spend 35 years with. Along with his partner, Rick formed the Association for Responsible Citizenship (ARC) to provide social interaction and to promote pro-gay action.

They group provided a place for people to feel good about being gay and to accomplish pro gay activities. One such activity was to raise awareness about STDs like gonorrhea or syphilis which were very common but were little understood by gay men or even by their doctors.

The pair eventually moved to San Francisco and became involved in the gay scene. Having acquired a law degree, Rick became well known as the “go to” guy if you got busted by the police for what were punishable offenses back in the day. Often times, people arrested for what was considered lewd behavior pleaded down to a lesser crime in order to reduce the risk of being found out and losing work. Rick convinced people to not “plead out” their cases but to go to trail. Eventually, the court system figured out that they weren’t go to win any of these cases so the police stopped targeting gay men.

Rick later ran against Harvey Milk for Supervisor seat in 1977 and lost. He will be portrayed by in the upcoming film “Milk” by Stephen Spinella, an openly gay actor known for his role in Angels in America and Spring Awakening on Broadway.

Listen as we talk with Rick about the horrors of being electrocuted in attempts to change your sexuality, working for gay rights in America at a time when being gay as illegal and where we are all headed in our fight for sexual diversity.

FOFA #567 – Snickers Nixon

FOFA #567 – Snickers Nixon

 Standard Podcast:

Amanda Steinstein gets photographed up close and personal!Have you ever played this game with your friends? Think of the name of your first pet you had when you were a kid and the street you lived on, combine those two and you get your Adult Movie Star Name. Mine would be “Jimmy Barbe”

Still this formula leaves a lot to be desired. How about we come up with a new one! Here is a helpful list of combinations you can make to come up with your Adult Movie Star, stage name, faerie name or drag name in a cinch.

• Favorite Snack + Conservative Politician = Snickers Nixon
• Innocent Girls’ Name + Movie Stars’ last name = Victoria Lamarr
• 50’s TV Sitcom Character + Greek/Roman God = Tony Zeus
• Civil Rights Activist + Jungle Cat = Cindy Cheetah
• Car Model + Type of Wood = Mercedes Mahogany
• Suburb in your city + Artificial Food Ingredient = Waukeegan Olestra

Okay, so they are not all winners. Still, this way you can be pretty clever when you’re creating an online profile and don’t want people to know what your real name is. Wouldn’t it be fun to be chatting with Skittles Liddy on the forums?

Keep in mind alliteration (Fausto Fernós, Vernonica Vera or Jessie Jackson) are great names because you get the bonus of having some cool initials like F.F.

Rhymes, or name combinations or puns are great too.

Share with us your favorite formulas for names and your results on the comments below.

Join Amanda Steinstein, Marc Felion and me, Fausto Fernós as we give honest advice to our hetero female fans who are dying to ignite their love life but find themselves spending a LOT of time with gay men.

When do you let go of a bad situation? How do you train a dog to learn that “NO” really means NO!

FOFA #712 – Your Gay Doctor

FOFA #712 – Your Gay Doctor

 Standard Podcast:

Dr. Frank Spinelli - Your Gay Doctor on the Feast of Fools podcastGay men are living longer than ever and we need to make sure we continue to keep the healthy bodies we’ve enjoyed in our younger years.

After all, life doesn’t end at forty.

On today’s show we’re talking to Dr. Frank Spinelli, your gay doctor about his brand new book “The Advocate Guide to Gay Men’s Health and Wellness.”

Dr. Frank Spinelli - Your Gay Doctor on the Feast of Fools podcastDr. Frank joins us to talk about why some gay men abuse drugs, transmit sexual diseases and how to keep romance hot well into your golden years.

Dr. Frank says one of the most important things you can do with your doctor is to come out as a gay man. Simply say “Doctor, I’m gay.” But for many of us, we shy away from doing that because we fear being judged or worse, being looked at as a freak because we don’t necessarily share the same sexual orientation as our doctor.

Thankfully, Dr. Frank is gay and fabulous! You can check out his MySpace page here.

Listen up folks, this podcast just might save your life!

The Advocate Guide to Gay Men’s Health and Wellness is a fabulous book that covers all the questions you may want to ask your doctor. It makes a great beside or bathroom book.

I believe that the single most important thing to improve the sexual health of all people in America is for the next President to push in congress a Universal Health Care plan for all people. The reality is that too many people living in the U.S. wait to the last minute to see a doctor because they simply cannot afford it.

I can only imagine the lives that would be saved and the improvement in transmission rates of all sexually transmitted diseases if we all had the same access to health care that almost all western nations enjoy.

For many of Americans, access to adequate health care is sketchy at best and I urge you to get Dr. Frank’s book (it’s $22 on Amazon) to educate yourself about the perils we face as gay men and also about some of the rewards and pleasures we’ve worked so hard to enjoy.

That being said, I urge you to save up and go see a doctor. There are many clinics in most urban areas that offer services on a sliding scale.

Your Dr. Feelgood for your podcasting regimen- Feast of Fools.

FOFA #713 – 9 1/2 Inch Tiara

 Standard Podcast:

Richard Biasi, the man behind the woman known as Regina Upright   Richard Biasi, the man behind the woman known as Regina Upright

TiaraMost people look insane wearing tiaras. Even still, gay men and women all across the world compete in pageants that cost a ton of money to participate in and for what? The competition is often so stacked against you and it’s more about who you know rather than how fierce a queen you are. And even if you do win, the titles don’t necessarily advance your career.

So why do these ladies do it? Because it’s fun. Just like thousands of young people line up to be rejected on American Idol television show, some gay men just think it’s a blast to go through all the trouble and sacrifice to put on a show.

Drag ties us to something powerful and we enjoy the temporary illusion we create when lip syncing and instead of being just another gay guy, we’re Diana Ross! A little hair and make-up and the right outfit and attitude we’ve become royalty. Queen for a night.

On today’s show one of our local drag queens and behind-the-scenes pageant diva Richard Biasis, better known as Regina Upright, joins us to talk about what inspires drag queens to entertain others and themselves.

Why are these gay men spending so much time and effort to imitate strong powerful women? What makes Cher such an icon?

What time is it? It's time to get a FOF Firecracker Red T-shirt!Listen as Marc Felion, Richard Biasis and me, Fausto Fernós talk about the British man dying from eating too many “fairy cakes” and the 39 year old Japanese man who got caught trying to show up at a high school trying to pass as a teenage schoolgirl wearing a uniform, makeup and long wig.

Oh, and yes, we unveil the DIRT on most drag queens in Chicago. What are Sal-E and Jo-jo really like? Who poured a pint of beer into my suitcase? Who stole my makeup?

Giving you the dirt you love- Feast of Fools.
