Comedian Cameron Esposito, talks about dealing with gay jokes as a professional comedian and touring with an all-womens circus. Also, La Toya Jackson has been working with the L.A. police investigating her brother’s death, earning the nickname “Detective La Toya.”
Comedy can be rough and you need to have a thick skin, so what does America’s lesbian sweetheart, Cameron Esposito do when life gets rough? She blogs about it and then runs off with the circus.
She triggered a great discussion when she blogged about a comic who told a lame gay joke in front of her girlfriend, so listen to find out what all the hubbub was about.
Cameron joins us today to talk about her stint in the El Circus Cheapo which is touring the Southwest and West coast. She’s looking for a warm bed to sleep in on her tour so catch her if you can!
When God closes a door, he usually opens a window, and in the death of Michael Jackson, it’s a lovely picture window with a couple of cracks in the glass, better known as his sister, La Toya Jackson.
When not performing at the Moulin Rouge or posing naked with a snake, the middle child of the Jackson clan, La Toya, volunteers as a reserve police officer with the Muncie, Indiana Police Department.
She’s been instrumental in investigating along with the L.A. police department the death of her brother Micheal. Her thoughts on the homicide ruling? “it’s going to be the biggest conspiracy of all times.”
She may be right as a video has surfaced of a man getting out of an L.A. coroner’s van who appears to dress, move and look like Michael Jackson.

Comedian and writer Keith Ecker weighs in on the heated discussion on bareback sex. Florida is going haywire as they ban Mr. Clucky a favorite rooster from living in the city of Miami and a man tricks a woman into treating him like a baby by pretending to be his own handicapped brother.
Our live podcast on bareback sex at the Center on Halsted sparked a heated discussion on gay men’s sexuality, the choice of not using condoms and the influence of media and porn.
Comedian and writer Keith Ecker was alarmed by the serious subjects raised and attacked one of the panelists on his blog for what he thought was irresponsible behavior. He since apologized for his actions and has come to a better understanding of some of these complex issues.
Today Keith is on the show talking about his reaction and why he’s changed his mind.

Getting a hold of celebrities is difficult, especially when you call the wrong number. It’s very nice when the person on the other end of the line is polite though. Leave it to the Canadians to be like that. They’re just happy to get a phone call, even if it’s a wrong one.
When we finally get out and proud comedian Elvira Kurt on the phone, we are surprised that she has become a lesbian dad to a real live human baby. We never find out the name of the baby but we are glad that Elvira gets to experience the joy of parenthood since so much of her act is based on her growing up. That’s the best thing about parenting, you get to put your kid through all the things your parents put you through.
In her act, Elvira channels the spirit of her mother, Irene, a bleak Hungarian immigrant. Elvira practically becomes Irene who has a think accent and always sees the dark side of things. For Irene, life is hard, bleak and everything you love will break you heart and disappoint you. Elvira claims that the Eastern European stereotype of despair and gloom is based on her mother.
We chat with Ms Kurt about Girls School, an all-girl comedy movement. It seems that girls in girls schools perform better than girls in co-ed schools so they figure that girls on an all girl comedy tour would perform better without men. It’s sort of an comedy version of the Michigan Womyn’s Festival.
Our lovely Gem Sweater Diva and a FoF favorite guest Leslie Hall performed in the review. She even stayed at Elvira’s house. Did you know Leslie has a tail? She doesn’t really but Elvira says that she leads a “marsupial” lifestyle. We think she means “nocturnal,” but you never know, so don’t be surprised if you see Leslie hanging from a tree someday.
Elvira is a widely successful Canadian comedian both north and south of the border. She’s made many TV appearances and even hosted her own talk show in Canada. You can find out more about Elvira at her website.

Late last year comedian Sabrina Matthews was scuba diving off the coast of Myanmar when she was attacked by a barracuda which sliced through the side of her diving mask and slit her left eye.
She was rushed over the Burmese border to a Thai hospital and underwent surgery which was just the start of a lengthy battle to save her vision.
On today’s show Sabrina shares her extraordinary ordeal of the fish attack, her unusual treatment at a foreign hospital, and how the US government almost left her to languish in Thai prison.
