With his closet shattered and his hypocrisy hanging out for everyone to see, Roy Ashburn has done what few of his fellow exposed Republicans have done.  In a piece written for GayPolitics.com he’s admitted the cruelty of his voting record and promised to dedicate himself going forward to advancing equality.  Further he says he will do so within the Republican party and will try to steer the Republican party away from a divisive cultural battle that he claims doesn’t really represent the values and ideals that attracted him to the Republican Party in the first place and which he sees as antithetical to American values.

We’re not sure why Chace Crawford (best known for his role as Nate Archibald in the TV show Gossip Girl) didn’t want to hold his own rainbow colored umbrella, but he sure looks cute not doing it!

From what I can tell, Chace was walking around the set of some movie, so maybe he didn’t have a say in the matter.

If Murphy is picked, hell if any of them are picked, I think Glee has demonstrated that Lea Michele would be an amazing choice to take over the role of Elphaba the witch of the title adjective whose story the musical is.  She is not only a singer of emormous gifts, and a great actress, but a dead ringer for the now too old to pull off the role Idina Menzel who has been playing Lea’s mother on Glee.  I have no clue who could possibly fill the giant and yet tiny shoes of  Kristen Chenoweth in the role of the delightfully self absorbed good witch Glinda (Galinda), hell can we just let her pretend to be 18?

Wicked’s stage runs have generated over 2 billion (yes I said BILLION) in grosses worldwide so this was inevitable, and the success in the last decade of screen adaptations of Chicago, Hairspray, Dreamgirls and Mama Mia make the journey for Elphaba and Glinda to the big screen a fairly easy bet for studios  (reportedly Universal) and producers.

Best Comedy Series race is best field in years (No “Two and Half Men” or any of the safe CBS Monday line-up stinking up the category).

Best Actor in a Comedy: Is Monk still on?  Hopefully will go to the still fantastic Alec Baldwin on 30 Rock.

Best Actress in Comedy: any one of the noms would be a great choice.   I secretly hope that Lea Michele wins, but really aall of these women are at the top of their game in great shows.

Best Supporting Actor in Comedy: Really.. they singled out Chris Colfer from Glee? I like him and all, but really, wheelchair guy…?

Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy: It is Jane Lynche’s award, everyone else is taking up space on the nom list.

Best Guest Actor in Comedy: Kurt’s Dad (Mike O’Malley) better win (or they can give it to Neill Patrick Harris also for Glee).

Best Guest Actress in a Comedy: Kristin Chenoweth’s performance of “One Less Bell to Answer” alone deserves the win.

Best Drama Series:  Breaking Bad should win, but I would shreek in glee if True Blood could pull out a win.  Really all the nominees are fantastic and at the top of their game.

Best Actor in a Drama: Bryan Cranston on Breaking Bad is still revealing layers to TV’s most complicated, interesting and unique character.

Best Actress in a Drama:  I have a feeling that 90’s favorite Julianna Marguiles will be on the stage this year for CBS’ only good show : the Good Wife

Best Supporting Actor in a Drama: Give Aaron Paul some love.  He took a character meant for a 3 episode arc in season one and turned him into an unforgettable portrait of addiction, greed and loneliness.

Best Supporting Actress in a Drama: Christina Hendricks of Mad Men and  Rose Byrne on Damages are awesome, but did their best work on those shows in previous seasons.  This year the screen stealer is Archie Panjabi as the mysterious and lesbianic investigator on The Good Wife.

Guest Actor Drama: Hands down as the creepiest of Dexter’s targets, John Lithgow brought out the big guns in his subtle and disturbing turn on Dexter.

Guest Actress Drama:  Lilly Tomlin’s surprising serious stand in for Mrs. Bernie Maddof on Damages  should capture the award as closely as it mirrored the zeitgiest.

Reality Competition:  The easy moneyis on the series that wins every year: The Amazing Race, but to my mind it’s getting tired and worn out, Project Runway and American IDol were both disasters this last year. So I give it to Top Chef.  but where the hell is “Rupaul’s Drag Race” season 1  actually injected some much needed life into the increasingly staid category. Shame on the voters!

Best Reality host: Who cares, they’re all rather tired at this point and without Rupaul in the race it is a drag.

Best Reality Series: with her evil arch nemisis and last year’s winner “Intervention” out of the running it should be Kathy Griffin clutching her third award, and for really the best season of her show (the Prop 8 episode alone was award worthy.  But wait a minute, no “Jersey Shore”?  just kidding.

Boycott Hawaii, that’s what I say.  They can have their meth labs, rampant unemployment, and crazy costs-of-living.

Recognized on Mashable.com Fabulis.com is growing fast in the social media world. Despite being turned off by the title “fabbit,” Fabulis is definitely worth checking out.

Fabulis (the definition): a guide for gay guys and their friends to where to go, what to do, and who to meet. Using Facebook.com, users log in and use their facebook profiles to interact with other members of the LGBT community. Sorted into categories (ex: location, occupation, characteristics) users are able to vote others up and rank them in different categories. Users are also able to ask each other questions and message each other.

What it has done:
Fabulis has the “who to meet” part down perfectly. Search by cities or categories made by users in order to find people that are interesting. Ask them questions, increase their rankings, and get to know them. It has also touched on the “what to do” category by offering incredible contests for users to enter into.

What it has not:
Fabulis is working more on “what to do” but hasn’t offered great mass events (besides pride) for its users. It also has not started on the “where to go” part yet. That is because YOU are not a member.

The more members that sign up, the better Fabulis will get. I have been a user for a little over a month now and can’t believe the amount of improvement I’ve seen in that short period. I enjoy Fabulis a lot (especially because it looks better and is more user friendly than Facebook). There’s a reason David Bohnett has invested in it and Mashable is noticing. Connect with over 44,000 users today.

Who doesn’t like fireworks? Instead of having one major fireworks display from Grant Park, the City of Chicago decided to have three smaller ones along the lake — near Montrose Beach, around 63rd Street Beach and at Navy Pier. Most people agreed it made for a much more dazzling display visible from all around the city.

One personal highlight for me was seeing people leaving the lake amid the confusion and smoke. It made for some eerie photos, right out our favorite TV shows like the X-Files or Supernatural.

Three people were shot and injured, including one 19 year old who is in serious condition.  The motive for the shooting is not known or reported yet, though video seems to suggest that maybe it was precipitated by an accusation of theft.

Violence of this sort  is what precipitated the closure and ending of the annual Halloween Celebrations in the Castro through the inaction and half-assed leadership of Bevan Dufty the San Francisco City Supervisor who represents the Castro.  He is running for Mayor in next year’s election.   Will Dufty and city leaders follow the same path and allow this to be an excuse to end Pink Saturday celebrations?

It was a glamor filled evening of sequins, rhinestones and big hair at Castro Theater, SF gay neighborhood’s 1920’s movie palace. The movie was a hit with the packed house of over 1200 people who laughed throughout the screening!
