			<title>Dan-X ! on "Info On Moving To Massachusetts? Other Gay-Family-Friendly Places?"</title>

			<description>&#60;p&#62;My partner of ten-years and I are lifelong Texans but looking to move as we rapidly approach our forties.  We have almost settled on Massachusetts as our destination for a few reasons – marriage equality, accessible health care and highly-rated public education.  (Regarding the last item, we have a soon-to-be-five-year old daughter and one of our driving forces for relocating is that we don’t want her going to school here.)  But our assessments are all based solely on research.  Neither of us has actually been to Massachusetts, so we have many concerns.  I am, of course, leery of the cold winters after living in Texas, which has it’s bad days but is typically much milder than many states.  We also don’t know what city would be most preferable to relocate to.  After being in such a constrictive conservative environment our whole lives we’d really prefer to be in an overtly gay community, such as Provincetown.  However, I’m sure that the cost-of-living and job availability would make that particular destination extremely difficult.  &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Can anyone provide me with information on the state that would be useful to a same-sex family relocating there?  What towns/neighborhoods are explicitly ‘queer’ and would it be reasonable to think that we could relocate to any of them and actually get housing, jobs and survive?  I don’t want my kid to be the only one in her class with same-sex parents, so living in a gay area is important but most of the time such cities or neighborhoods are very expensive and often have a high crime rate as well.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;A friend of mine suggested Northampton but my research determined that it was overwhelmingly lesbian with just a fraction of gay men.  I would really prefer a place more equally balanced.  &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;We are also open to other locations.  It doesn’t have to just be Massachusetts or even New England, although that is definitely the way we’re leaning right now.  We are open to going anywhere that fits our wants and needs the best though.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Suggestions?  Advice?  General info?&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Thanks in advance.&#60;br /&#62;
-Danny

			<description>&#60;p&#62;Has anyone else downloaded the new OS (OS4) for iPod Touch/iPhone and having problems with their FOF podcasts? I can&#38;#39;t get all of the FOF podcasts to synch on my Touch. They are all checkmarked in iTunes, but I only get 65 eps to show up, when I have over 100 to synch. I also notice that when I try to scroll through the FOF podcasts that are on the Touch, the Touch freezes about half way through the podcasts. I have another podcast on my Touch that has no problems and all of the eps are there and I can scroll through them. Any ideas?

			<description>&#60;p&#62;This is the first FOF I had to turn off. Is Ronnie Kroell the most vabid and affected guy on the planet? I literally could not listen to another word about the artistic decison-making project process blah, blah, blah. Posing artisically nude is going to help his so-called modeling career? Um what modeling career? In Japan maybe? A porn star woudl be a more interesting interview. Tyra Sanchez made this guy seem interesting.

			<description>&#60;p&#62;I was trolling man hunt today and I had a message from a couple that have been together for 5 years. They are looking for a house boy to keep the place clean/care for the house. They are both career focused and seem to have schedules that don&#38;#39;t always match up. I think they want someone to come home to everyday. They will offer rent, utilities, food and cell phone. &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I would love to say yes but I have a career of my own and they would miss me as much as each other. &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Have you heard of others that have pursued this idea of a shared &#38;quot;third wheel&#38;quot; in a partnership? &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Just a thought. I want to hear more about these types of relationships. It seems that homosexuals are more open about these types of non-monogamous relationships. I am asking them questions now (because I am nosy). &#60;/p&#62;

			<title>gilanne on "GOP apology given to Tony Hayward for White House shakedown"</title>

			<description>&#60;p&#62;Tony Hayward opened his testimony in Congress on Thursday afternoon by apologizing on behalf of BP for the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico 2010. But he was upstaged by one more apology from a Republican for the White House &#38;quot;shakedown&#38;quot; of BP for a $20 billion dollar fund to cover damages from the oil spill. Lawmakers vented predictable wrath on the oil company executive when at the House Energy and Commerce hearing investigating the oil spill. The shakedown apology to Hayward from Texas Republican Joe Barton was also predictable upon examination of the representative&#38;#39;s record.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Resource for this article: Tony Hayward receives G.O.P. apology for White House shakedown By Personal Money Store&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;&#60;strong&#62;Tony Hayward sits while gusher flows&#60;/strong&#62;&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;While Tony Heyward took his lumps, the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico reached at least 100 million gallons according to government estimates. As outlined by the New York Times, the oil spill cap BP has been using given that June 3 has collected about 15,000 barrels a day. Scientists estimated Tuesday the BP oil leak ranges from 35,000 barrels to 60,000 barrels a day — which is very much up from the flow rate they issued only last week, of 25,000 to 30,000 barrels a day. It continues a pattern that each and every new estimate of the flow rate has been dramatically higher than the one before.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;&#60;strong&#62;Hearing dominated by political posturing&#60;/strong&#62;&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Tony Hayward listened quietly for about 90 minutes as lawmakers made opening statements. Democrats led by California Rep. Henry Waxman, who&#38;#39;s the chairman of the full House Energy and Commerce Committee, harshly criticized BP for the shortcuts it took that lead to the disaster. Republicans used the televised listening to as an opportunity to criticize the Obama administration for its response to the BP oil spill. As they used the listening to to score political points with their base, Republicans accused the administration for using the listening to to put the oil industry out of business to advance its energy policies.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;&#60;strong&#62;Joe Barton ashamed of BP &#38;quot;shakedown&#38;quot;&#60;/strong&#62;&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Tony received his own apology before he had a chance to apologize. Barton explained he was &#38;quot;ashamed of what happened in the White House yesterday. I apologize. I don&#38;#39;t want to live in a country where any time a citizen or corporation does anything wrong, they&#38;#39;re subjected to such political pressure.&#38;quot; He called it &#38;quot;a tragedy of the first proportion, that a private corporation could be subjected to what I would characterize as a shakedown, a $20 billion shakedown.&#38;quot; According to Reuters, Republicans are seeking to pick up seats from majority Democrats in November&#38;#39;s congressional elections. Using BP&#38;#39;s $20 billion oil spill damage fund to criticize the Obama administration is an extremely risky stance that is bound to be unpopular in the Gulf region, where out-of-work fishermen are desperate for claims payments to survive economically.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;&#60;strong&#62;Barton’s shakedown wasn’t a surprise&#60;/strong&#62;&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Barton’s shakedown was a shock to most. But it was reported by the Washington Post that for Barton, outrageous statements about energy and climate change are nothing new. Barton is one of the largest recipient of oil and gas industry campaign contributions in the House of Representatives as outlined by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics. Some of these comments were:&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;blockquote&#62;&#60;p&#62;Barton on wind energy:&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;&#38;quot;Wind is God&#38;#39;s way of balancing heat. Wind is the way you shift heat from areas where it is hotter to areas where it&#38;#39;s cooler. That&#38;#39;s what wind is. Wouldn&#38;#39;t it be ironic if in the interest of global warming we mandated massive switches to energy, which is a finite resource, which slows the winds down, which causes the temperature to go up?&#38;quot;&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Barton on climate change:&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;&#38;quot;I think that it&#38;#39;s inevitable that humanity will adapt to global warming. I also believe the longer we postpone finding ways to do it (adapt) successfully, the more expensive and unpalatable the adjustment will become. Adaptation to shifts in temperature is not that difficult.&#38;quot;&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Barton on Co2:&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;&#38;quot;CO2 is odorless, colorless, tasteless - it&#38;#39;s not a threat to human health in terms of being exposed to it. We create it as we talk back and forth. So, and if you go beyond that, on a net basis, there&#38;#39;s ample evidence that warming generically -- however it is caused -- is a net benefit to mankind.&#38;quot;&#60;/p&#62;&#60;/blockquote&#62;
&#60;p&#62;&#60;strong&#62;Hayward gets an apology edgewise&#60;/strong&#62;&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Tony Hayward finally got his chance to apologize after a protester disrupted his testimony by shouting that he should be charged with a crime. After she left the room, Hayward said he was &#38;quot;deeply sorry,&#38;quot; and the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico 2010 should have never happened. He also offered his condolences to all of the families of the 11 people who died in the explosion of the oil rig that set the disaster in motion. Hayward has yet to face any questions from a subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which recessed after his statement to allow members to vote. No more apologies can be expected.&#60;/p&#62;
