Marc, Ronnie and Fausto at Northalsted Street Market DaysDonate now please. I was up late into the night last night worrying about our finances with regards to our travels to California. I’m calculating that between just air travel, automobile, gas and lodging alone will run us approximately $3,300. We’ve managed to get a pledge $500 from Steamworks to donate for our travels and around $480 in t-shirt sales, but we need a whole lot more from you, our listeners, to help make this happen.

Thanks Steamworks!

Right now we’re planning to bring Miss Ronnie, Amanda Steinstein, Sal-E, Marc Felion and myself, Fausto Fernós to California for a Live Podcast on Wednesday, October 3 at the Stud Nightclub in San Francisco and for the People’s Choice Podcast Awards in Los Angeles on Friday Sept 28 in at the Portable Media Expo.

Both events are free and open to the people (that means you) but in order for us to just be at the places we need your help.

So on today’s show we’re pulling our own telethon and pulling out all our stops to evangelize for podcasting and for dollars. Won’t you help?

We need approximately $2320.00 in the next two weeks to make it happen. So we’ve put up a little chart to help us raise the funds to make the trip happen!

Also on today's show we're hanging out with our power fresh chicken listeners, "Boilingbrook Mike" and Miss Ronnie to talk about a Chinese man whose wife chopped off his hand because he was that addicted to the internet! Poor guy. He needs to run out and get himself a new iPod so he doesn't sit at his computer all day and all night long.

Don't forget to check out Miss Ronnie's awesome Renaissance fair YouTube videos.

Apple Inc. just put out FOUR brand new iPods yesterday, updating their entire line. We're happy because new iPods mean new listeners for us, but we're also feeling sympathy for our friends out there who got themselves an iPhone last month.

Apple just dropped the price on the top-model iPhone $200. Ouch!

We pulled a double prank on Jerry Lewis and Steven Peterson. Steven and I were on the phone talking about Jerry's accidental slip up and talked about registering www.illiteratefaggot.com and pointing it to Jerry's own web page. So I pulled a Michael Jackson and stole the domain name from under Steven while we were on the phone.

Shame on me! Don't worry Steven, the domain name is yours if you really want it.

For the price of a cup of coffee you can support a podcast. The choice is yours to sponsor the Feast of Fools.

MMmMmmMmmm… nothing like a big hearty satisfying Ronnie Vanna fix to fight the quotidian awfulness.
I’m all happy in my special area!
    love the fof.

  2. Barbara says:

Come on fellow listeners. Let’s pitch in for Fausto and Marc and the gang.

In my neck of the woods, a PHD is a Pentecostal Hair-Do usually found on right-wing Chrisitian women.
Ronnie, I love making clay sculptures. I use Super Sculpy. It is very flexible and easy to use. I even made a fairy for my Mom. She collects fairies. I have made hundreds of things and given them to all my friends. Here is a link to some of the sculptures and other things that I made. http://www.flickr.com/photos/cliffdix/sets/72157594217426970/

FYI, if you bought your iPhone in the last 30 days you might be able to get a refund or credit. I’ve read different things on the web, some said 14 and some said 30, and it may depend on where you bought it. If you bought one in the last 30 days, check with the place you got it to see if they will credit you the $200 + tax.

    I love Ronnie’s Santeria…….. Great Show U guys!

  6. Come on listeners, bring the FOF to California!!!!!

  7. Tony says:

I might not be able to give some money, but I’ll definitely give some love (by love I mean I’d by you a drink)! You Freaks of Fools (I mean that with the deepest love) can stop by my place for a drink anytime!

  8. Always a great show kids. I can’t wait to see what Ms. Ronnie put in my T-shirt. For all y’all that bought one, wear it everyday and get people to come to the site and donate!

  9. Jamie says:

Your gang is always the bright spot in my day. I only wish your show (or the 80’s equivalent) was on when I was coming out. Love you all! Best of luck!

  10. Swimmerpup says:

iPhone early adopters worry not! Steve Jobs is taking care of us with $100 !!!!

    Love Apple.

  11. brain-fork says:

Great show today. It’s good to know the shirts haven’t been shipped yet… I was starting to think it got lost in the mail.

I know how that Chinese woman must feel… I know people who sit on the net all day long (my boyfriend). I’d never chop his hands off though.

  12. RcktMan says:

Doh! I hadn’t listened to the show yet when I wrote my email to you guys today– please disregard my PS about the T-shirt :) :) I was worried it was lost, too! Things have been known to disappear from the mail… and if things don’t fit in the mailbox they just lay it on the floor. Yipes!

  13. Eric says:

Good show. I’ll be glad when the trip is all over, because hearing you guys request donations brings to mind my parents fights over money… : (
Miss Ronnie (I’ve always felt a little timid and had some trepidation about addressing you) your santeria story was one of the funniest things I’ve heard all week. One should never underestimate the power of magical thinking.
And the chinese guy whose hand was cut off….are you sure that isn’t another hoax? Like the iphone finger amputation? I haven’t been able to find one credible article about it when I goggled “Chinese man’s hand cut off by wife” (and various versions) on CNN, Rueters, AP, or anything…..except in a forum called “Soompi”.

  14. Sweet Eric- we need the donations to pay for the air fare, hotel rooms, car rental and gas that the trip will cost. Remember that we are all taking time off work at our own personal expense to bring the show to California, with hopes of growing our audience, coming face to face with our listeners and sharing our artistry with the West Coast.

This is a win-win situation here, because it only serves to reinforce the podcast not detract from it.

If you’re a teen, please call our AUDIENCE PHONE LINE: (773) 681-3833 and leave a message about what the Feast of Fools means to you. Be sure to say your first name only, your age and what state you live in.

    For example:

“Hi there my name is John, I’m 18 years old and I live in Florida. The Feast of Fools means this to me _______ because ______. I am planning to study to become a successful stock broker so that one day I can give the Feast of Fools a million dollar grant! For the moment, please donate to their travel fund. Thank you!”

  15. matt says:

I’ll be happy to donate to the show for a picture with me and the gang in Ontario.

  16. My way of donating is paying for my own flight and hotel so the boys can use the meager FOF funds for their own expenses.

Make no mistake…we do these trips because we love you and we want to see you and hug you. These west coast events are scheduled to coincide with the Podcast awards because we want to be there anyway.

As for non-Californians supporting meet ‘n’ greets they can’t get to…consider that all donations eventually get us closer to you. All of the money really goes toward keeping the show going…bandwidth, equipment, etc. Special donations toward travel mean Fausto and Marc can spend less of their own personal money on the trip…but their own personal money usually goes into making up the difference between regular donations and actual show expenses anyway.

In the end, more money means more trips…if we can make it to San Francisco without totally emptying our pockets, then we can consider more meet ‘n’ greets in other cities. If we lose our shirts (so to speak) on one meet ‘n’ greet, it’s unlikely we can schedule others.

If you really want us to visit you on your home turf, find ways to get the trip sponsored! Got a friend who works for an airline? Get us buddy passes! Got a friend who works at a hotel? Get us rack rates! Or get travel/lodging donated in exchange for promo on the show!

Got no friends in the hospitality industry? Make some! I’m thinking about half the flight attendants I’ve met would be fans of the show already…

I don’t have the freedom to call a 773 area code so here’s my phone message.

Hi, my name is Kaleb. I live in Ontario, Canada. To me, the Feast of Fools represents friendship and community. I’ve come to see it as hanging out and discussing a wide array of topics with friends. I see so many of the podcasts available as “news” or as something that I would be unattached to. With the Feast of Fools, I feel as if I’m part of the show.

  18. Fausto as soon as i get paid. im donating!!!!!! Love any episode with Miss Ronnie and can’t wait until im less than 100 feet away from her at the LA meet and greet in silverlake

  19. Ryan says:
