We’re in Las Vegas! A city full of bright lights, slot machines, lavish shows and tacky things everywhere. A great place to visit, but being surrounded by so many people gambling the night away on slot machines and roulette wheels makes me panic a little. Like the end of the world is near.
Las Vegas would be the last place I would want to be caught fighting off zombies in a total apocalypse scenario. But, alas, here we are at a conference full of podcasters.
Thankfully we ran into the delightful talk show host Meredith Medland of the Living Green podcast. The show’s motto is “effortless ecology for everyday people.”
On her weekly podcast Meredith talks extensively about the psychology of the ecology and why we are “going green” all of a sudden. She talks to not only environmentalists and eco-friendly types, but also to fatalists, those people who are preparing for the collapse of Western civilization and the end of the world as you and I know it. Yeow!
She spent a lot of time with people who build bomb shelters, own guns and stockpile enough preserved food to feed themselves for a good year. Needless to say Meredith is getting a little anxious listening to these people talk in detail about why the world might go poof in a blink of an eye.
Good thing our gal knows Hapkido! Meredith says she can kick herself out of a handgun, and we believe her.
Listen as we talk to Meredith about her red carpet interviews with Will Smith, Al Gore and how Oscar nominee Sienna Miller feels in her body when preparing for those sexy love scenes.
New study shows the pill may affect what kind of a man a woman is attracted to. Woman who take the pill are more likely to choose a mate that has similar DNA to their won. This may result in difficulties getting pregnant or miscarrying. Woman who don’t take the pill are equally attracted to both men who are and who are not similar to them genetically. Why do we as gay men care about the pill and its effects? Well, if there is a pill that will make Pavel Novotny attracted to me, I want to know about it!
One of the owner’s of Manhunt was outed as a hard core republican because he gave money to John McCain’s campaign. The money has since been to Obama and the man has resigned but the popular gay dating site (by date, we mean hook up) is in the middle of a big controversy as to how we reconcile someone’s political leanings and our values as gay people. Do we boycott the company because someone in leadership doesn’t share our values or do we just take the product as is?
Jeff Whitty, the gay author of the hit Broadway show Avenue Q probably never heard of Adam Hinton and Kerry Norris when he wrote the song lyrics that allows you to be “as loud as the hell you want when you are making love.” Well, as it turns out, you can’t be loud as the hell you want when you’re making love, at least not in the U.K. This happy couple were so loud in their lovemaking that the neighbors got a restraining order against Adam and he can longer visit his lover’s home.
Savor the flavor- Feast of Fools.

I remember people used to tell to do it in the year 2000 to avoid the “big shut down”… well… Do we have to be prepared?
I think if you’re spending more time preparing for a catastrophe than working to prevent it from happening, either you’ve given up or are a very selfish person.
I’m so turned on and freaked out at the same time by this show!
It makes no sense to store all important information online. After a catastrophe you probably could not use the Internet.
Often we also cannot prevent catatrosphe from happening. In case of a natural disaster one can do nothing. In case of wars too unless one is a decision maker in the government.
In case of a nuclear war the best what can happen is to die quick from the blast. Otherwise one have to face a slow death from radiation.
Why Wesley? Just watch Terminator 2 and I am Legend Reruns and you’ll be ready for the apocalypse.
What an excellent, eloquent, interesting guest Meredith Medland was. Don’t her sensibilities ‘just sound and feel right’? Bring her back often, and invite her to talk more, M & F.
I enjoyed this show a lot and was impressed with Meredith, so I subscribed to her podcast. What a disappointment.
In her introduction to the interview she speaks so slowly it’s as if she thinks the listener is retarded. Then the interview is less than ten minutes long and this podcast is just once a week. It just makes me appreciate Feast of Fools even more!
Meredith does speak very slowly in her podcast, but I think part of that is that the podcast is a very different sort of podcast from the feast of fools. FoF is primarily intended to be a fun, entertaining, and honestly fast paced podcast, just like Fausto and Marc themselves. Meredith’s is intended to be primarily an informative one, so it has a much different tone and energy then FoF. It took me some time to get into Meredith’s podcast, but after listening to two episodes I was able to settle into the style more comfortably.
Meredith is fabulous. I really LOVED listening to her chat with you guys.
isn’t that birth control pill attraction stuff is Biology 101
this was one of my favorite shows! Great guest. I just subcribed to Meredith’s podcast, looking forward to giving it a listen.
