Let’s celebrate! It’s our Cinco De Mayo Show, a couple of days late, so really it’s our Siete de Mayo show.
This celebration of Mexican Heritage and pride commemorates the Mexican army’s unlikely victory over French forces on the fifth of May.
Open up a cerveza and join us we toast our Latino Heritage, with our good pal comedian Bill Cruz. We’re talking about the fabulous new movie Little Ashes, which portrays the unusual love affair between the artist Salvador Dalí and the poet Federico García Lorca who met at school in their youth.
The film stars the sexy Spanish actor Javier Beltran as Lorca and Twilight’s Robert Pattinson as the famous Dalí. Pattinson considered getting a penis implant to make him look bigger for the pic but unfortunately you don’t get to see if he actually got one or not.
The film made it’s North American premiere at the Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival and gauging from audience response, it’s going to be a hit with movie goers when it opens nationwide on May 8th.
Also in the news: scientists unveil a deliciously fast chocolate fueled race car.
An elderly German man mistakes an electronic birthday card for noisy neighbors.
The first American woman to receive a face transplant shows off her new face.
And sadly, comedic actor Dom DeLuise dies at the age of 75.
Join us this evening for “Make a Statement: Design for the Cure” hosted by the AIDS Foundation of Chicago’s Junior Board which showcases top fashions from the city’s up and coming designers. Be there and hobnob with Project Runway’s Jack Mackenroth.

Like:The shows with Bill have been my favorite recently. What wiki doesn’t say about 5 de Mayo is why the celebration is bigger here than in Mexico. The day was hijacked by by beer companies in the US some 30 years ago. Which is why most people associate it with beer and mistake it for mexican independence because the US version of 5 de Mayo was created by Coors.

Like:As Mexican I am really u glad that finally you are educating people about the meannnign of 5 de Mayo but just a correction this is a Mexican holiday because the French Army was the most powerful army in the world at that time and the Mexican Army win the battle against all odds. That´s is why this moment in Mexican history is celebrated and is one of the most important battles on all the Invasions that Mexico has suffer over the years. Love the show always a blast when Bill is on the show.
