Kids, say hello to your new mommy!
Teri Yaki’s been working hard to transform herself into Amanda Steinstein, for our very special What Not to Wear/Feast of Fools viewing party at Hydrate in Chicago on Oct 10.
We’ll have a blast watching on a jumbo screen as we raid Amanda’s closest, try on some of her clothes, stalk her around town and then surprise her with a makeover in this reality TV show.
The crew told us that our episode is probably the gayest one ever and that Amanda was the most challenging person (read:worst dressed) they have ever had on the show. This is a must watch episode- plus, prizes, games, gifts and giveaways! I didn’t happen to mention the bar is “hosted” did I? Glug glug!
Listen as Teriyaki shares her roller coaster drug bust story and shares her insight into Chicago’s drag wars and why some people find drag queens so offensive.
Is everyone coming out? Lindsay Lohan shyly confirms her lesbian love affair with DJ Samantha Ronson on the sex-advice radio show Loveline.
Meanwhile- Clay Aiken’s fundamentalist female fans are shocked and awed over his bold coming out on this week’s People Magazine.
But honestly, who didn’t know Clay Aiken was gay? He was just saying what everyone was thinking.
A Chinese Girl was arrested for forcing her college roomates to get fat. Her roommates thought she was the granddaughter of a mob boss and forced them to give her money and to do ridiculous things like gain weight. If the girls didn’t do what she said she could make them disappear.
Condalezze Rice got skipped over for Sarah Palin and how kooky Kirk Cameron kisses women in movies without breaking his wedding vows.
PLUS- We’ve got a special Little Britain USA Giveaway! Listen to today’s show for details and check out the youtube videos in the forums.
Fresh funny and fabulous- Feast of Fools.

On today’s show we have Nirmalpal Sachdev, the general manager of Steamworks and Sean Kotwa, the gayest manager at the gay nightclub Hydrate who have the pulse on Chicago’s gay neighborhood – Boystown.
They’re here to tell us all about the scene and fantastic events happening this month and next such as Lube Wrestling, Steamworks Haunted Bathhouse and Retail Night.
We’re very excited to announce the special Feast of Fools “What Not to Wear” viewing party will be at Hydrate on Friday October 10, 2008. Won’t you join us? It’ll be a lot of fun with a hosted bar by a secret sponsor.
The event starts at 7PM and we’ll watch Amanda’s makeover as she goes from sham to glam. We’ve got hot drag queens like Teri Yaki lined up to portray Miss Steinstein so you can watch in real time as Miss Fugly becomes Miss Lovely! You think that’s mean? Wait till you see the show!
Hydrate also runs a Steamworks sponsored monthly Lube Wrestling event where the boys undress down to their skivvies and the audience soaks them in lube and they wrestle for prizes. First place gets $200 and second runner up gets $100, but everyone’s a winner when you are covered in lube!
Halloween’s Hot this year! It lands on a Friday and it’s five days before the national presidential elections. Will Sarah Palin clones outshine John McCain’s Borg Queen wife as a popular halloween costume? Which is scarier?
Sarah Palin thought Tina Fey did an impeccable parody of her on Saturday Night Live and her spokesperson said “She thought it was quite funny, particularly because she once dressed up as Tina Fey for Halloween.” Oh snap! I’m sure Sarah thought she had the scariest Halloween costume- an intelligent, successful, progressive woman.
Brad Pit Donates a hundred thousand dollars to protect gay marriage in California, but it’s still not enough to match opposing forces. Those in favor of the ban on gay marriage have raised quite a bit of money. You can even track where the money is coming from. Who would have thought that Palm Springs, a gay mecca, would give so much money to the other side?
Have you seen British Football Hunk Frank Lambard’s terrible makeup job? I know he wanted to look good but couldn’t someone take him to the MAC counter for some make up advice? He looks like a big old pumpkin face! Get the right color and blend baby, blend. Seeing photos like this make me both love and hate paparazzi.
Join us as we talk about Peru’s ancient sexy Kama Sutra pottery, lusty screaming elks, the controversy over Miller Beer and Coors merger with gay bar owners and their potentially harmful alcohol infused energy drink is being challenge by 25 states including Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal.
A fresh burst of flavor in every byte- Feast of Fools.

Standard Podcast [58:11m]:
What a weekend! Chicago almost busted at the seams as over 200,000 people came from all parts of the world to hang out, celebrate and enjoy the perfect weather, music and sexy people walking around Lakeview for Northalsted Street Market Days.
Steamworks didn’t disappoint with their fantastic twister inspired booth. With the hunky guys playing the colorfully spotted game, we had to play and certainly enjoyed being on the bottom of a pile of beefcake.
Musician Eric Himan brought out the fans and listeners of the podcast. We had a fun time with so so many Feast of Fools listeners in the audience. We’re glad we were able to introduce so many of you to his hot indie-rock music. It was great to see so many of you cheering Eric on and buying his music after the show!
We have a big angry mob of fabulous guests today! Don’t miss today’s show as Tracy Tyler, Hot Boy Luke, Teddy Jay, Marc Felion and me Fausto Fernós talk about the Market Days madness and take a break from the festivities to hang out at home in the home studio on Saturday night.
As if Market Days wasn’t enough, the Olympic games also started this weekend, the Olympic Olympics, you know the trademarked one, as thousands of athletes from around the world gathered in China to compete. Watching the dazzling opening ceremonies on TV, I was quite taken by all the beautiful athletes marching onto Beijing Birds Nest Stadium floor. I felt like Mae West in her final film “Sextette.” Boys boys! There’s plenty of Fausto to go around.
Marc was bested by a chicken hawk- and not the kind you are probably used to hearing about in the gay bars. You may remember Marc telling the story about how he tragically killed his niece’s baby chicken by accidentally putting a cage on him and effectively crushing the poor thing to death. Well, the little girl just recovered from the horror of losing one of her favorites chicken to witness only a few weeks later another chicken being carried off by a chicken hawk (a real one- not an old gay man who preys on young men). So, he is no longer the bad guy.
I feel a little sad seeing John Edwards getting politically tarred and feathered after the revelations of an affair with a woman hired to produce campaign videos. It was a brief affair that his wife knew about so get over it America.
Many bloggers and tv pundits say it’s not going to hurt Barak Obamas chances, but anything that takes American’s minds off our mortgage crisis, the need for true universal healthcare, and ecological and energy woes could mean another four more of the Bush-Rove-McCain style of leadership.
With McCain getting so much media coverage comparing Obama to Paris Hilton and Britney Spears (two women who are closely tied to the Republican party) is not only distracting the American voter, it negates his promise not to run a sleazy campaign.
Has the debate become like an episode of Seinfeld- “a show about nothing?” Discuss.
It’s okay to lick your fingers- Feast of Fools.

Standard Podcast [59:05m]:
It just might be the gayest event in the whole midwest.
On today’s show Jason Heidemann, the Gay & Lesbian editor for Time Out Chicago talks about Northalsted Market Days, the largest and gayest street festival in the Midwest.
Jason describes the month of June and all the Pride events surrounding it as Thanksgiving with your family which is fun but a time of reflection and thanks for all we’ve achieved.
But Northalsted Market Days is simply one giant gay party with no agenda except to have a good time. In many ways, Market Days is the party we all want to have after the Pride Parade is over but have nowhere to go and often have to work the next day.
Listen as we give you the inside scoop on what to see, what to do and who to do this weekend as over 200,000 people gather to hang out in the gorgeous Lakeview area and feast on street food, drink in public and enjoy the tinny sound of 80s has-been bands like Expose!
One perennial favorite of the street fair is the Steamworks booth which is more like a mini-mall featuring an eclectic mix of staff, porn stars and local residents playing twister for kitchsy prizes. I’m definitively not as limber as some of these famous adult actors, but it sure is fun to “lose” in this game, if you consider losing as lying under a pile of handsome men.
Some men like a challenge, I don’t.
Be sure to keep an eye out on our flickr photo gallery for pics of guys (and gals) kissing each other with joyful bliss. It’s always a hit with the online photo bloggers.
One thing thing that everyone loves to talk about to this day is the phallic, awkward pylons that anchor the Halsted Street area between Addison and Belmont as the official “gay” area of Chicago. When they were first erected, many people thought they were odd, ugly and way too gay, but over the years I’ve grown to like them a lot and embrace their quirky, rocket like presence looming over us like trees in Lord of the Rings.
If these pylons could talk!
By the way, kudos for Time Out Chicago for making their whole issue go gay. It looks fabulous, especially the cover of the handsome young blond man spraying us with his hose and cooling us from the summer heat.
We’re hoping to do interviews from the Mark Twain Hotel in San Francisco and plan on getting as many of the folks from Trannyshack on the show in person, talking about the queer legacy of San Francisco, Harvey Milk, the Coquettes and what it means to the rest of the world. But, we need your support to help make it happen. It’s just around the corner so please give a helping hand.
We’re trying to raise approximately $2820.00 in the next two weeks to cover the costs of the trip and repair our recording equipment to make it happen. Will you help?

Ricardo Avila came to the US to pursue a career as a school teacher, but years later ended up as one of Chicago’s most popular drag queens, Frida Lay.
On today’s show, the delightful Frida joins us to talk about her unexpected career as one of Chicago’s most entertaining drag queens.
Although Frida is now one of Chicago’s most sought out performers, she thinks she’s a phony and not a real drag queen. Why does she think she has no act? I think her simple charm and calm demeanor help her stand apart from the crowd and she’s got a great sense of humor.
Frida hosts the last Thursdays of every month Roscoe’s Wet Boxer Contest, where guys get warm water sprayed on them to see who’s got the nicest package.
We like the idea of this so much, we HAVE to go see it for ourselves. So be sure to join us on July 31 as we help Frida with the contest by pouring water on the hot guys.
Check out Frida Lay’s MySpace page for a complete list of her Chicago appearances.
Listen as we talk with Frida about the sexy Roscoe’s Wet Boxer Contest, Falling in Love and why she won’t sleep with any of her fans.
Yum yum! Here’s a gay ice cream story. Vermont ice-cream company Ben and Jerry’s just announced their new flavor in honor of musician Elton John- Goodbye Yellow Brickle Road.
The pop singer well known for his hits Candle in the Wind and the Bitch is Back collaborated on the flavor, asking the ice-cream makers “just make it chocolate and peanut butter guys, if you can make something like that work.”
Like the Bluebell ice-cream down in Texas, Elton takes a similar approach to the product, he eats all he can and sells the rest. Just kidding folks!
Here’s another sign the economy is in bad shape. It also sounds like Jeff Foxworthy joke: “You might be a redneck if…” you sell your unborn baby boy’s name for a $100 gas card to a radio station.
David Partin recently heard that a local radio station was giving away $100 worth of free gas to the listener who called in with the most interesting item to trade. He won. But seriously, for $100? With today’s oil prices, that’s not even two tanks of gas.
Partin’s girlfriend Samantha says “At least my son will have an interesting story about how he got his name.”
Savor the flavor- Feast of Fools.

Most people look insane wearing tiaras. Even still, gay men and women all across the world compete in pageants that cost a ton of money to participate in and for what? The competition is often so stacked against you and it’s more about who you know rather than how fierce a queen you are. And even if you do win, the titles don’t necessarily advance your career.
So why do these ladies do it? Because it’s fun. Just like thousands of young people line up to be rejected on American Idol television show, some gay men just think it’s a blast to go through all the trouble and sacrifice to put on a show.
Drag ties us to something powerful and we enjoy the temporary illusion we create when lip syncing and instead of being just another gay guy, we’re Diana Ross! A little hair and make-up and the right outfit and attitude we’ve become royalty. Queen for a night.
On today’s show one of our local drag queens and behind-the-scenes pageant diva Richard Biasis, better known as Regina Upright, joins us to talk about what inspires drag queens to entertain others and themselves.
Why are these gay men spending so much time and effort to imitate strong powerful women? What makes Cher such an icon?
Listen as Marc Felion, Richard Biasis and me, Fausto Fernós talk about the British man dying from eating too many “fairy cakes” and the 39 year old Japanese man who got caught trying to show up at a high school trying to pass as a teenage schoolgirl wearing a uniform, makeup and long wig.
Oh, and yes, we unveil the DIRT on most drag queens in Chicago. What are Sal-E and Jo-jo really like? Who poured a pint of beer into my suitcase? Who stole my makeup?
Giving you the dirt you love- Feast of Fools.
