Pandalicious

 Podcast Video:

Listen up y’all, cause this is it. The video I’m posting is delicious.

Day four of Panda Week 2008 continues with my own take on Fergie’s hit song “Fergalicious.” Why? Because every song is improved by having several guys in panda suits lip syncing to it. It’s like drag, but furry! Check it out.

Feast of Fools is crazy for pandas this Halloween. We plan to have some fun with the Asian tourists attracted to the lively atmosphere, colorful costumes and the thrill of walking among the spirits of the dead at the North Halsted Halloween Parade.

Please vote for Feast of Fools in the Podcast Awards today and every day until Nov. 6.

Pretty much every lip syncing video is improved by panda costumes, don’t you think?

Because the Halloween Parade in Chicago attracts a lot of Asian tourists, we dressed up like pandas this year to dazzle the crowds.

Panda Week continues with Marc Felion’s very special video.

Because the Halloween Parade in Chicago attracts a lot of Asian tourists, we wanted to entertain the crowds. This video is in tribute to French singer Edith Piaf who is loved by Asians and gay men (some who are both) everywhere.

Panda, panda, don’t you wanna, wanna panda?

We decided to dress up as pandas for Halloween. Our video is in tribute to “Annoying Asians” where two Korean guys who captured our hearts and minds when they lip synced Chin2’s hit “Jung Hwa Ban Jum.” Marc really wanted to dress up as panda’s for Halloween because our local parade attracts a lot of Asian tourists, and we wanted to entertain the crowds.

Michael Lehet joins us to dance the night away. He’s the one with the goatee. See? All pandas don’t look alike.

Please vote for Feast of Fools in the Podcast Awards today and every day until Nov. 6.

FOFA #729 – The Golden Standard

FOFA #729 – The Golden Standard

 Standard Podcast:

Behold the mighty QuidEver notice how crazy people LOVE to talk about gold? Specifically the gold standard. If you’re ever at a party and someone starts ranting about how our economy is built on a house of cards because our currency isn’t based on gold anymore, put your cocktail down slowly walk away. Believing that we should revert to the gold standard is the “gold standard” or litmus test for crazy. Why are crazy people attracted to the gold? Because it’s shiny. Crazy people love to hoard shiny objects.

No country in the world uses gold as a way of determining the value of money anymore. So how does paper money get it’s value in today’s society? iPods.

But, more specifically, it’s the goods and services that the country’s economy provides that gives value to their currency.

Because we just LOVE to ponder what will be happening tomorrow on the Feast of Fools, we were wondering what will happen to our money in the future when everything is even more hi-tech and when so many of us may hopefully live in outer space.

The British National Space Centre thought about how space tourists are going to have to find a way to spend money in outer space. After all, the magnetic stripes on credit cards might get erased by solar radiation, coins may cause damage, and it would be impossible to deduct your paypal money without the internet in outer space.

What they came up is the QUID, or “Quasi Universal Intergalactic Denomination” which are clear teflon pebbles that you can presumably spend at any stellar tourist destination someday.

Why they don’t call the new currency “Space Money” is beyond me but I wouldn’t mind getting a blue pebble for a birthday present (hint hint April 16th). Amanda, a fan of science fiction insists that all money will simply be described as credits.

Group hug! Marc and Amanda meet Angie and Alexis from CincinatiJoin us today as Amanda Steinstein, Marc Felion, Alexis and Angie, the Cincinnati Lesbians and me Fausto Fernós open up a bunch of Easter baskets sent to us by our listeners with sexy results.

We just love to talk about Petra the fickle swan who is trying to get back with her monster sized boat lover. It seems that with all the baggage Petra has been carrying around, her latest beau got sick of it and left her. She’s going back to the big swan boat. When will she ever get it together?

We also talk about the FDA’s unscientific ban on gay men donating blood despite the fact there is a blood shortage going on in America, a trans man who gets pregnant and a firefighter who is fighting to get her job back after burning down her father’s house.

We love our fans, really we do. Alexis and Angie, pictured here were some of the very first listeners we ever had for our podcast way back in the spring of 2005, even before iTunes started supporting podcast subscriptions.

Before we won our first People’s Choice Podcast Award. Before we rose to the top of the iTunes popularity charts for a gay podcast. Before we knew what we were doing, they were there with us, every step of the way.

To celebrate our ten year anniversary and their five year anniversary as a couple, our lovely lesbian listeners traveled all the way from “sin-sin-ati” to hang out with us this weekend.

The podcast that is worth it’s weight in QUIDS- Feast of Fools.

It will be okay. When does our love for our divas interfere with our daily living? What are the warning signs that diva worship has gone too far?

Jason brings some insights into many of the mental health issues gay men face and some simple steps you can take to find help.

FOFA #712 – Your Gay Doctor

FOFA #712 – Your Gay Doctor

 Standard Podcast:

Dr. Frank Spinelli - Your Gay Doctor on the Feast of Fools podcastGay men are living longer than ever and we need to make sure we continue to keep the healthy bodies we’ve enjoyed in our younger years.

After all, life doesn’t end at forty.

On today’s show we’re talking to Dr. Frank Spinelli, your gay doctor about his brand new book “The Advocate Guide to Gay Men’s Health and Wellness.”

Dr. Frank Spinelli - Your Gay Doctor on the Feast of Fools podcastDr. Frank joins us to talk about why some gay men abuse drugs, transmit sexual diseases and how to keep romance hot well into your golden years.

Dr. Frank says one of the most important things you can do with your doctor is to come out as a gay man. Simply say “Doctor, I’m gay.” But for many of us, we shy away from doing that because we fear being judged or worse, being looked at as a freak because we don’t necessarily share the same sexual orientation as our doctor.

Thankfully, Dr. Frank is gay and fabulous! You can check out his MySpace page here.

Listen up folks, this podcast just might save your life!

The Advocate Guide to Gay Men’s Health and Wellness is a fabulous book that covers all the questions you may want to ask your doctor. It makes a great beside or bathroom book.

I believe that the single most important thing to improve the sexual health of all people in America is for the next President to push in congress a Universal Health Care plan for all people. The reality is that too many people living in the U.S. wait to the last minute to see a doctor because they simply cannot afford it.

I can only imagine the lives that would be saved and the improvement in transmission rates of all sexually transmitted diseases if we all had the same access to health care that almost all western nations enjoy.

For many of Americans, access to adequate health care is sketchy at best and I urge you to get Dr. Frank’s book (it’s $22 on Amazon) to educate yourself about the perils we face as gay men and also about some of the rewards and pleasures we’ve worked so hard to enjoy.

That being said, I urge you to save up and go see a doctor. There are many clinics in most urban areas that offer services on a sliding scale.

Your Dr. Feelgood for your podcasting regimen- Feast of Fools.

FOFA #713 – 9 1/2 Inch Tiara

 Standard Podcast:

Richard Biasi, the man behind the woman known as Regina Upright   Richard Biasi, the man behind the woman known as Regina Upright

TiaraMost people look insane wearing tiaras. Even still, gay men and women all across the world compete in pageants that cost a ton of money to participate in and for what? The competition is often so stacked against you and it’s more about who you know rather than how fierce a queen you are. And even if you do win, the titles don’t necessarily advance your career.

So why do these ladies do it? Because it’s fun. Just like thousands of young people line up to be rejected on American Idol television show, some gay men just think it’s a blast to go through all the trouble and sacrifice to put on a show.

Drag ties us to something powerful and we enjoy the temporary illusion we create when lip syncing and instead of being just another gay guy, we’re Diana Ross! A little hair and make-up and the right outfit and attitude we’ve become royalty. Queen for a night.

On today’s show one of our local drag queens and behind-the-scenes pageant diva Richard Biasis, better known as Regina Upright, joins us to talk about what inspires drag queens to entertain others and themselves.

Why are these gay men spending so much time and effort to imitate strong powerful women? What makes Cher such an icon?

What time is it? It's time to get a FOF Firecracker Red T-shirt!Listen as Marc Felion, Richard Biasis and me, Fausto Fernós talk about the British man dying from eating too many “fairy cakes” and the 39 year old Japanese man who got caught trying to show up at a high school trying to pass as a teenage schoolgirl wearing a uniform, makeup and long wig.

Oh, and yes, we unveil the DIRT on most drag queens in Chicago. What are Sal-E and Jo-jo really like? Who poured a pint of beer into my suitcase? Who stole my makeup?

Giving you the dirt you love- Feast of Fools.
