Today is May 22, which was voted in by the good people of California as Harvey Milk Day to celebrate the iconic gay civil rights leader Harvey Milk. Milk was one of the country’s first openly gay person to win elective office when he won a supervisor seat in 1977.

Above is the 1984 documentary film “The Times of Harvey Milk.” The Oscar-winning documentary film about the successful career of San Francisco’s first openly gay man to be elected to office and hsi assasination. The Gus Van Sant film “Milk” was based on this documentary as well as several books and audio recordings left behind by the slain political leader.

You saw him at the Oscars, now on today’s show we have longtime gay rights activist Cleve Jones talking about what it was like to walk the red carpet at the Academy Awards, dance with Madonna at the after-party and hold Dustin Lance Black’s hand during the momentous evening.

The Oscar win for the film Milk certainly gives the national gay rights moment a shot in the arm but can we leverage the movie’s success into a comprehensive bill that ensures equality for all Americans?

“It was an odd sensation to be in a room full of people and the only face I did not recognize was my own!”

On what an average citizen can do to fight for equality:

“I always go back to Harvey Milk. The single most important thing that we must all do as individuals is to come out of the closet and reveal ourselves to our families, neighbors and coworkers and let people understand who we are. I think the greatest obstacle that remains that individual queer people have about coming out.”

“The second step is to finally demand that straight people really get with the program and show their support. I think Sean Penn’s speech was very helpful in that regard. Too long we’ve accepted compromise and allowed our own leaders to sell us out. This is what President Clinton did… we need to hold all our leadership accountable.”

Sex is on the menu today! It’s the oldest joke and profession and now scientists in Australia have found evidence of the world’s oldest creatures to engage in the act. Paleontology never was so erotic. Whoo. It seems when it comes to the birds and the bees that the tube worms did it first some 500 million years ago.

Last week actor James Franco appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to talk about an upcoming movie, but seemed way more interested in talking about Milk and his experience in wearing a prosthetic wang during nude love scenes with co-star Sean Penn. A transcript of the interview sounded almost like a steamy romantic novel. Yeow!

James spoke about his experience- ” I go over to Sean and I guess he didn’t know I was wearing a prosthetic. You are such a great actor. You wouldn’t do a scene like this if they asked . You wouldn’t dive into the pool naked,’ and he said, not knowing I was wearing a prosthetic, ‘Well James, if I was built like you, I would.’

I’m am shocked. I had no idea that prosthetic wieners are now standard in Hollywood.

No, they aren’t sucking the poor victims dry but rather they infecting them with rabies, which is hard to cure if it goes untreated early on. Maybe a bad case of rabies explains President Chavez’s odd behavior.

The Dog Cloning lady might be crazier than we thought and the cloning of her beloved pit bull named Booger may be just the tip of the iceberg of insanity. It’s alleged that the one time beauty queen held her former Mormon lover captive and forced him to have sex with her until he promised to marry her. Once she released him, he reported her to the police and she was arrested. She fled the jurisdiction and has been on the lamb ever since. I’m guessing that this lady has an obsession problem.

Please go see a dentist! Okay? Don’t make me come over to where you are and drag your ass to see a dentist. If you haven’t seen a dentist in six months, you’ve waited too long.
