Drag queen Elysse Giovani on the Feast of Fun podcast

Although most states in the US don’t recognize same-sex marriages, the tide is turning and six states currently allow full marriage rights to all their citizens.

Today we’re talking to Scott Booker, best known by his drag queen persona: Elysse Giovani.

Earlier this year Elysse was so upset at a vendor at an opposite marriage wedding expo that she decided to take matters into her own hands and plan a wedding expo full of gay friendly businesses, drag queens and cocktails! Sounds like it’s going to be a blast!

Listen as Elysse shares with us her insights on planning a gay wedding and how to avoid some common mistakes gays make when tying the knot. Did you know you can save money on your wedding by going digitally green?

We cordially invite you to attend the Over The Rainbow LGBT Wedding Expo on Saturday July 25 at the Center on Halsted. $5 donation goes to charity – VOHAV Victims of Hatred and Violence – a support group for queer folks who suffer from domestic violence.

Pull that wig down from the shelf, it’s International Drag Day! Didn’t know? Well it’s a new holiday as declared by British designer Adam Stewart. It celebrates the drag queen in all our lives. Leave it to a drag queens to be late for pride.

We take a look at our favorite drag queens, both national and local, and reflect on the dearly departed divas of the past. Who are some of your favorites?
