Blogger Japhy Grant looks at the challenges he faced and the inspirational moments he cherished working in gay news. Japhy also dishes the dirt on Perez Hilton, RuPaul’s Drag Race and the new season of Project Runway.

Last time we had blogger Japhy Grant on the show, he was working for a certain high profile gay news blog. Now he’s moved on to new projects.
Today Japhy is back to take a look at the challenges he faced and the inspirational moments he cherished working in gay news.
Japhy was quoted extensively in the Advocate’s July cover story about his former classmate, Celebrity Blogger Perez Hilton. Perez threatened to sue Japhy over what he said and even tried to discredit him by portraying him as a jilted lover.
What really happened between Perez and Japhy? Is there a sex tape floating around?
Japhy also reflects on the future of NASA, the state of privacy and anonymity on the internet and Obama’s health care reform and his actions on gay rights. Should we be pushing or shoving the President forward?

I wonder if Lilo asked AFi for a date after she had her kicked off the show?

If you love drag queens and Project Runway, today is the show for you!
We’ve got New York City’s very own Miss Understood of Screaming Queens talking about the Drag Queen Challenge on the hit reality TV show Project Runway.
Miss Understood spills the beans on how reality TV shows are taped and what it takes to make it big.
Join us as we talk about the designers we love, the ones we hate- and the clothes that made a lasting impression.
We watched the airing of the episode at Retro Fit in San Francisco. It’s a shop run by LeMay, one of the drag queens on the show. She who wore the awful dress with the unbelievable collar. As we watched poor Jerrell construct the crazy drag costume, a crushed LeMay kept screaming “No, don’t do it!” The party goers loved her enthusiastic drama.

RuPaul made her first television appearance in quite a while, but why did she look so awful? That wig looked like it had gone through the washing machine. We know, it’s hard to “do a twirl” or “sashay, shante” but just pass a comb through it once or twice. They even used Joan Collins level Vaseline on the lens and she still looked like a hung-over Sarah Jessica Parker!
A cross dressing thief in Florida snatched a woman’s purse but the person left behind a very important clue- a fake breast. Well, it may not be an important clue but the police are processing the water filled condom for fingerprints and DNA evidence.
I think we finally figured out why McCain picked Alaskan Governor Sarah Pallin for his vice president. She is a metaphor for the republican party. She is a loving mother who’s child has strayed and now she is making everything better by getting her pregnant daughter married. She’ll do the same with her faltering party and steer it on the right track.
Her speech at the Republican National Convention seemed to say everything the party wanted to cover- terror, taxes and energy. That’s the great thing about rhetoric, it doesn’t even have to be true to resonate.

Standard Podcast [1:11:56m]:
Steven Rosengard was the first Chicago based designer to be on Project Runway, the fabulous reality television show where contestants compete against each other to create the best clothes. Their designs are judged and one or more of the contestants are eliminated each week.
Project Runway Season Four was filled with a lot of great talent and we are glad Steven got as far as he did. He was “auffed” or kicked off of the show after re-styling a wedding dress of a women who have lost a significant amount of weight.
When given the challenge to create a new outfit out of a woman’s former favorite “fat clothes,” Steven was given the impossible task of transforming a woman’s wedding dress. As soon as I saw that dress, I knew whomever got it was going to lose.
The judges said that Steven turned her “wedding dress into a funeral dress.”
Still, Steven doesn’t shy away from talking about his design choices and explaining his reasons for making it.
Steven is a blast! We had a lot of fun with this Chi-town fashionista. He loved our idea for “Project Runway: The Musical!”
Just imagine the incomparable Elizabeth Berkley as chief “auffer” Heidi Klum and Bea Arthur as style guru Tim Gunn singing the breakout hit “Make it Work! Make it Work! Make it Work!” It’ll also feature pop sensation Gloria Estefan as Latina Nina Garcia and a dancing orange as the orange skin toned judge Michael Kors.
Of course all the contestants would play themselves and there would be awesome fashion show montages throughout the show. Jack Mackenroth is already working on his routine. Check him out in this over the top Flashdance number.
Since leaving Project Runway, Steven has spent a lot of time attending charity functions. He’s hosting Make a Statement: Design for the Cure, which showcases top fashions from Chicago’s favorite boutiques and rising designers, to raise HIV/AIDS awareness among Chicago’s 21 – 35 demographic. Presented by the AIDS Foundation of Chicago Junior Board, the event will feature models wearing t-shirts with such statements as: “Condoms: For Wieners Not Wallets,” “AIDS Apathy Makes Your Ass Look Big,” and “HIV Only Needs One Chance.”
Listen as we chat with Steven about the future of Project Runway and how its move to another network will effect viewership. Is Heidi nicer on air than she is off air?
Steven continues to further his design work. If you’d like him to make you a dress just contact him through his website StevenRosengard.com

I was overwhelmed by the emotion of seeing our very own Christian Siriano win Project Runway. Was there any doubt in anyone’s mind? Congratulations Christian- you deserved it and your clothes looked STUNNING.
To celebrate, we’re reposting this “Best Of FOF” interview we did with Christian in January, when it wasn’t so clear the outcome of the contest.
Pop open the champagne!

Snip snip! The gayest television show on right now isn’t Ugly Betty, it’s Project Runway on Bravo! The Emmy nominated reality series showcases 12 or more fashion designers compete with each other to create the best clothes restricted by time, materials and a theme.
Giving the viewer a great perspective on the anxieties and challenges of being a working designer in any field, Project Runway is right now one of the hottest shows on television.
One of the most talked about contestants is Christian V Siriano, our featured guest on todays show!
Known for being the youngest contestant on the show as well as for his unrestrained opinions and asymmetrical haircut, Christian brings a lot of pizzaz to the show.
Join Marc Felion and me, Fausto Fernós as we talk with Christian about the challenges of being in a reality-tv show competition, finding inspiration as a designer and if there was any sexual tension happening behind the scenes.
Just what is Tim Gunn REALLY like? Was Christian really fighting that much with Matty over the chocolate brown prom dress? How does he cope with the stress?
If you see Christian walking around the streets of New York City, don’t ask him who won. Because fashion week is in February, the producers of the show waited to decide who the winner is during that time despite the current series being filmed in July of 2007.
Do we think Christian made it to the top three? Will he win? We certainly hope so! Be sure to check out his personal website with tons of images of his fashion designs. Photos of Christian V Siriano by Brad Walsh.
Be sure to check out Project Runway on Bravo every Wednesday, 9pm Central, 6pm Pacific.
Out of the closet but always in fashion- Feast of Fools.
