Dschinghis Khan, “Moskau”

post a comment

Ever wonder what Santa might look like if he were gay and not morbidly obese? This video gives us a glimpse, and that’s just one of the eye-poppers on parade here. There’s no point in listing them all, but do watch for the bald guy to bungle this number’s signature one-handed squat-kicks just before the end.

Dschinghis Khan was invented in 1979 as Germany’s entry in the Eurovision Song Contest, performing a song also called “Dschinghis Khan.” They took fourth place (Israel won with Gali Atari and Milk & Honey’s “Hallelujah”) and went on to make hits around the world until they disbanded in the mid-80s. “Moskau” became a big “viral” sensation back in the olden days just before youtube with a truncated version of this newly restored Soviet-themed showstopper. —JQS

And that’s not all!: Via listener Troy, a “Moskau” fan video shot in a Russian neighborhood of NYC.

  1. OK, I’m picking up a heavy sense of Bony M melody and also some ABBA sentimentality right now!

    Hoho-ho-Hey!

  2. I love you gay Santa!
