What a turnout! Thousands of protesters flooded Chicago’s Federal Plaza on Saturday, November 15 (today) in opposition of Proposition 8 as part of an 300 city, 50 state movement against the California amendment that passed earlier this month.
Chicago police had to close down a lane of traffic to accommodate the huge crowds, which later turned into a march down Michigan Ave. through the heart of Chicago’s downtown shopping district, best known as the “Miracle Mile.”
Event spokesperson Andy Thayer said the protesters were “ecstatic to see so many of their peers standing up for equality. We are angry that our community has been vilified by those who hate us, but determined to fight on for equality.”

Way to take pictures of mostly DePaul kids. For clarification the boy holding the “Love is Love” is dating the boy with the rainbow flag.
You guys did a great job turning out for this. Here in San Francisco it was 85 and everyone was in shorts, getting a good tan while they listened to the speakers.

Featured speakers were San Francisco Supervisor Tom Ammiano, and California State Senators Mark Leno and Carol Midgen. All Gay, Out, and Proud.
And of course after the rally – chaos ensued as we all rushed to get tables for brunch!
I figured they were a couple Zahn.
Hope you offer a ‘best sign’ list. My favorites are: I can’t have a husband, I’m stealing yours; When can I vote on Your marriage?; Those that deny freedom to others don’t deserve it themselves – Lincoln.
Great pics!
Here is a slideshow from the DC protest.
I liked the roughly lettered sign that said “Prop 8 is as bad as this sign” haha
