The Creepy USS New York, built from the wreckage of the World Trade Center

The USS New York, a Navy Ship made from the scrap metal from the The World Trade Towers will be commissioned on Saturday.

While I think in many ways that it’s a beautiful concept to reuse the metal from such a tragedy, I also think it’s a little creepy.

HAHAH, love that mentality. “What do you do with the scrap metal from 9/11? Turn it into a warship of course!”
    :p

I change my mind. I’d build wheelchairs with guns for Stephen Hawkins to ride as he solves crime.

    Guys Guys Guys…

The Marine Corps has never been a part of the Army. The Marine Corps was founded as a naval infantry to serve on naval vessels and raid force. To date, the Marine Corps exists as a department of the Navy not as a separate branch of the military.

The Marine Corps’ mission is to act as a ready deployed force that can quickly reach any part of the world within 24 hours and engage whatever enemy that has been deemed to be dealt with or conduct humanitarian aid or evacuation of personnel and secure US interests.

The Marines do deploy on naval vessels as a detachable force that can go ashore and sustain operations as an independent force for a short period of time until the Navy or other branch supplies that Marine force or until the whole of the Marine Corps arrives.

The Navy on the other hand does have an “air force” and it can deploy on carriers which some Marine aircraft can as well.

As far as the ghost ship goes, as a former Active Duty Marine (out due to DADT) and having deployed on naval vessels before, I would think that some would think it a bit creepy and would make some superstitious if some ‘event’ occurred that would otherwise be seen as ordinary setbacks on any other vessel. I however, would see it as a physical reminder to never again let it happen.

From a one of the biggest business buildings to a Navy ship. hmm, it says something about the current state of the US.
